Do’s & don’ts with the MultiChoice logo

Clear Space

Clear space is the minimum "breathing room" that must be maintained around a logo to preserve its integrity, ensuring it is always legible and easily identifiable.

Don't

Alter or rotate the logo. Manipulate the logo by adding embellishments like drop-shadows, embossing etc.

Background Colour

Its preferable to place the logo on a white background however this is only a suggestion and need not apply in every circumstance.

Placement

Its recommended to place the logo in the bottom lefthand corner aligned with the copyright in the righthand corner. A “sticky footer” is worth considering as a digital solution.

Fonts

Helvetica Text

According to the DStv DotCom style guide, the primary typeface is Helvetica Regular. "A modern, flexible and easy-to-read font that gives impact and clarity to communications."

Approved weights: Helvetica Regular, Light and Bold.

Google Fonts

There isn’t an official digital (website & mobile) font as Helvetica font is a system font for Mac machines only. Consider embedding Roboto font like the DStv website or alternatively use any clear, legible, san-serif universal system font like Arial, Verdana or Tahoma.

Icons

Representation

Icons need to be literal, therefore represented in their conventional meaning.

Clipart is frowned upon

Not only is clipart regarded as a cheap, unoriginal excuse for a graphical element it often spoils the overall design. All too often there is a lack of style consistency when clipart images are used alonside one another. Avoid!

Consistency of Style

Its encouraged to create your own icons in a drawing program like Adobe Illustrator. Icon packs are also recommended as long as they remain consistent in style, colour and weight for that particular project.

Colour palette

MultiChoice corporate colours are based upon the prism colours captured in the logo.

Responsive web design

In keeping with today’s web standards its advocated that all website solutions are fully responsive - compliant with all devices (from desktop computer monitors to mobile phones).

Bootstrap logo

Its recomended to use the Bootstrap Framework - customised version (select only what you need per project) and not the full version so as to keep load times optimised.
